Sakura Exchange Program in Science in 2017

A total of 10 students joined the Sakura Exchange Program in Science, sponsored by Japan Science and Technology Agency, from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) to travel across the country and visit renowned Japanese companies and universities.

The program was for 10 days from 11 November to 21 November, and started in Hokkaido, where students received lectures from professors of Hokkaido University on the forest resources and forest chemistry among others.  After visiting Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine as well as a food factory and research center in Hokkaido, students moved on the Shinkansen to the Utsunomiya University and then to the University of Tokyo.

 

Students came from the undergraduate school of UNIMAS who study the forestation.  While receiving lectures on the food chemistry and food technology of Japan, students had an opportunity to experience to enjoy the culture in the trip, which for many of them was the first time abroad.
